Just want to share how much I enjoyed reading Birdland !! The style and the story held my attention so completely that I finished it in half the time I had anticipated..Strongly recommend even for readers like me who usually favor non-fiction
Super fast read, tight punchy writing. Mysterious, thrilling and psychological. And if your a Hitchcock fan (which I am) - it's a terrific added dimension to his classic The Birds.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough! It's a beautifully written homage to Hitchcock's "The Birds" employing the same intensity and build as the great Master of Suspense. Adams is the master of this literary gem. This deftly told story (less parody than homage -- though I laughed in places!) had me engaged from the very beginning. I hated to put it down.
I ordered this book because I had heard that this was the author's favorite of the books he had written. I can see why. I have sent a copy to a former English teacher at NYU as I knew she waould admire the style and story as much as I had....
